Marcy Tempus, Goodwill employee of nine years and counting, was honored with a Certificate of Achievement Award by Region II Workforce Development Board on October 25, 2016.

This award confirms Marcy’s hard work and determination in overcoming personal challenges to achieve success. While addressing the crowd at the awards ceremony Marcy shared “without the vocational rehab services and the support from my employers I don’t know where I would be today.”

Marcy has worn hearing aids since she was three years old. Through the support of vocational services throughout high school and while at community college, Marcy has achieved many milestones, including obtaining her driver’s license, preparing for and maintaining employment. The next step in her journey is to receive cochlear implants.

At Goodwill, Marcy works in all functions of store operations. She interacts with customers when working as cashier or on the sales floor. She works in the production area preparing items to go onto the sales floor and accepts donations. She has a positive rapport with customers and team members.

When asked what she likes best about Goodwill, Marcy responded “the atmosphere…people that you work with, always being able to talk with the team.” Receiving this recognition was an emotional experience that Marcy was able to share with her Goodwill managers and co-workers. She was beaming with pride as she was honored at the event. Marcy was even able to honor her Goodwill team by presenting them with a Certificate of Achievement Award.
